Make A Difference In One Life
Orphaned by her mother and abandoned by her father, Lekeleni was found living on the streets of Lilongwe. In her short life, she had endured horrific physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. At Mtendere Village, Lekeleni has been adopted into a family—she has a mother, brother and sisters—and she knows that she is a valued daughter of the King. She no longer fears abuse, or hunger.
During her free time, Lekeleni can be found playing netball (similar to basketball), or spending time with her best friend, Masiye.
Jannet's mother died when she was just a few months old. When her father remarried, his new wife did not want to take care of Jannet or her older sister Stella, so she abandoned them in a distant village during the time of the devastating famine and drought in Malawi. The people in that village forced Stella and Jannet to leave because they did not want to feel obligated to feed them. Stella carried baby Jannet on her back and lived under a bridge until a chief noticed them and they were brought to Mtendere Village.
When Jannet arrived at Mtendere she was near death from lack of food. She only weighed 15 pounds. Today, she is a healthy seven year old with the most contagious laugh that you have ever heard, and she loves to sing really loud. Often you will find her leading the pack of youngsters at Mtendere behind houses 1 & 2. She truly is an upcoming leader amongst the girls of her generation.
Justice is the second born in a family of three. When his parents died, Justice and his siblings went to live with his grandparents. However, his grandparents were not able to provide for the three children long-term, so Justice was selected to come and live at Mtendere.
Justice arrived at Mtendere in poor health and he had never been to school. He was very excited to sleep on a mattress for the first time! Justice is now 13 years old, and he is doing very well in school. Justice's dream is to become a pilot, and eventually get married and have three children, a boy and two girls.
How You Can Make The Difference
Thank you for considering sponsoring one of our children at Mtendere Village. One of our core principles is that partnership is vital to the success of everything that we do. With your donation of $40 a month, you will be joining with other partners to make it possible for us to reach more children in HIS name. Through our sponsorship program, we are able to provide food, clothing, shelter, education, and medical care to many children in need. The economics are simple. The more sponsors we have, the more children we are able to help!
After you submit your initial commitment, our sponsorship coordinator will send you details and information about the child that you will be helping. If you have any questions, please email Sponsor@100XDevelopment.com.
Financial commitment: The 100X Development Foundation is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all gifts are tax deductible as charitable contributions. All gifts that are donated for a specified purpose (such as child sponsorship) will be used for that project. Gifts that are donated to our general fund will be distributed where they are needed most. We believe that it is our responsibility to be good stewards of each dollar given and we commit to upholding the highest level of financial integrity.
