“Safety and security don’t just happen, they are the result of collective consensus and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable citizens in our society, a life free of violence and fear.” Nelson Mandela.

At the end of October 2012, we adopted 16 Children into our Mtendere family. We had an overwhelming response from sponsors who were ready to pick a second child to support and others who wanted to become a first time sponsor, and in less than two months, we found full sponsorships for ALL 16 children. Getting to learn and know these 16 precious lives, the same issues resounded out of their story: Hurt, Hopeless and Helpless. Their fragile bodies had experienced hardship with physical labor; their worn hearts had experienced some sort of loss of a close loved one. It is hard to believe that all these children experienced so much suffering in their lives. However, in the midst of all of this God was moving. It has been almost 5 months now and the little faces have lit up with smiles. They are no longer afraid of the unknown. At Mtendere they have been given a new home and a house mom to love and care for them every day.  Instead of farming the fields at eight years old or herding the cows all day for money or food, they can play and be children again. They can go to school and not worry about where their next meal will come from. Please keep our sixteen new children in your prayers.
